Palais De Tokyo – visit

This week I decided to go to Paris and walk around the city to gain some inspiration and also go to exhibitions in museums. I went to Palais De Tokyo where was an exhibition containing some textiles and patterns that were some how inspiring for me.

One of the pieces was an Armenian rug from the early 20th century, mended using a large piece of rectangular cotton. IMG_3261.jpg

Then there was a set of tapa clothes, jockstraps made from beaten bark, decked with Mbuti Pygmy designs from the Lturi Province of the Democratic Republic of Kongo. As I focus on doing patterns and textiles in the current brief it was helpful and inspiring to see these pieces of work.
